Software Product Demo Process

We've used this product demo process to train teams that close millions in software sales. A great software demo has a handful of key components.

Here are 6 things, at a minimum, you must include in a great software product demo:

  1. Learn about your prospect (current activities and pain points/ things they want)
  2. Tell them what you will show them.
  3. Demo the product based on learnings from step 1.
  4. Be concise.
  5. Check-in often.
  6. Determine the next steps and book it before you leave.

One addition since this template was first published: AI tools can now do much of the pre-demo research for you. Feed your prospect's website, LinkedIn profile, and any public information into an AI tool and you can walk into the demo with a much more detailed understanding of their business, pain points, and competitive landscape before you say a word. The fundamentals below haven't changed, but the preparation is now faster and sharper.
